Increasing Fertility…Naturally

By: Michelle Chin, ND

NewbornNaturopathic Doctors can help with fertility and difficulty conceiving. The goal is to balance hormones and support the reproductive system.  With fertility, naturopathic doctors will work with both partners to create individual health assessments and treatment plans which focus on rebalancing and strengthening the endocrine and reproductive system.  Often herbs, vitamins and minerals are prescribed to help heal, rebalance and strengthen the body.

Key factors in treating fertility are proper diet and nutrition, detoxification, stress reduction and hormonal balancing.  Naturopathic Doctors also use homeopathy, acupuncture, botanical medicine and some hands-on therapeutic touch to stimulate the body’s own unique ability to heal and correct imbalances.

I have found in practice that acupuncture can help focus on balancing one’s energy flow, help balance hormones, help with stress reduction, and can assist in both female and male fertility.  Acupuncture can be beneficial to help with fertility, as well as with IVF treatments.

If you want to find out more about how naturopathic medicine and acupuncture may help to improve your fertility, Michelle offers FREE 15 minute consultations.  Call the office to book your free consultation with Michelle on Thursdays.

How Can I Receive Massage Therapy Comfortably with a Pregnant Belly?

With Our New Pregnant Belly Cushions and Supportive Pillows!

By: Dayle Tengnagel, RMT

Pregnancy Massage PillowDuring pregnancy many clients will complain of poor sleeping habits and discomfort. This is because of the inability to sleep on their backs, or their stomachs as their babies grow. The reasoning women are recommended to sleep on their sides is to prevent the baby from compressing the major blood vessels which can cause the mother to wake up due to increased discomfort in her legs. There are a lot of products that are made to help assist a woman through her pregnancy with sleep and overall comfort. At Advanced Chiropractic and Wellness Centre we now have a specialized pregnancy pillow that allows the pregnant client to be able to lie on their stomachs further into the pregnancy without any risk to the baby.

This pregnancy pillow system elevates the mother off of the table and allows the belly to drop down into a gap that relieves the pressure off of the abdomen. The top part of the pillow has a section for the breast tissue that relieves pressure especially while the chest grows for milk production. This pillow can be used during the entire pregnancy depending on the size of the client’s belly. Some clients will become uncomfortable due to the baby being higher up in the abdomen and their breathing can be restricted. At this time, we can always switch to a side lying position which decreases pressure from higher up in the abdomen. The number one rule for pregnancy massage is to maintain the clients comfort and for them to be aware of what they feel and if they are uncomfortable to move or adjust their position.

If anyone has any further questions or is interested in trying the pillow feel free to contact us at Advanced Chiropractic and Wellness Centre and book an appointment or consultation.

Rolled OatsRolled oats are often considered to be an excellent choice when it comes to a healthy diet. In general, oatmeal made from rolled oats is understood to help reduce the amount of bad cholesterol in the bloodstream. They are also an excellent source of dietary fibre, iron, and thiamine; rolled oats can be a significant part of a healthy diet, requiring only a small amount to reap the benefits. Rolled oats also have the advantage of possessing an antioxidant known as avenanthramides, which is very helpful in ridding the body of toxins that have built up over time.
