Focus on Health:
Fertility and Acupuncture
By: Joseph Steyr
The big news in fertility healthcare for Ontario is that the government is now covering IVF, but only for one session, which started January 1st 2016. So that means preparing for and maximizing your odds when going for IVF is key! There are a number of powerful tools to help treat and support fertility naturally. A recent 2015 study found that having acupuncture as an add-on to IVF increased the success rate of pregnancy (Pubmed reference PMID: 25911598). Acupuncture can increase fertility by reducing stress, increasing blood flow to the reproductive organs and balancing the endocrine system, according to several studies and medical research.
Plus, many herbal and nutritional products like CoQ10, MACA and green tea have been shown to support both female and male fertility. The important idea here is that setting up a healthy foundation before trying to conceive, naturally or with treatments like IVF, is essential.

Did you know…..?
Your sense of smell skyrockets when you’re ovulating.
Yup, you read that right. If you’ve been smelling funny things all day, it could mean it’s prime baby-making time. So instead of complaining about his overwhelming BO after he hits the gym, maybe take it as a cue to roll around in the sack — pronto (Okay, after he showers.)
